RSpace Chat tool – Reference View Guide

Overview

The Reference View feature within the RSpace Chat Tool allows users to trace the specific parts of documents that were used to generate the AI’s answer. This functionality increases transparency and helps researchers validate the relevance and credibility of responses—by directly viewing the sentences, paragraphs, or sections pulled and used from full-text documents.

How to Use the Reference View

  1. Start by opening a Dataset that you’ve either created or imported in your RSpace account.
  2. Use the Chat tool to ask a question based on the content within your Dataset.
  3. After the Chat tool generates a response, scroll down below the answer to find a list of documents that were used to support the answer. These are the referenced sources.
  4. Click on any of the listed references. The full document will open, and you’ll be able to see the specific highlighted sections (e.g., sentences, paragraphs) that contributed to the Chat tool’s answer.

Note: To access the Reference Feature, the document must have full-text content available in RSpace.

You can easily check if a document has full-text access by looking for a small PDF icon on the right-hand side of the document entry in your Dataset. Only documents with this icon are eligible for deep reference tracing.
