The Extract tool gives you the possibility to extract (you don’t say) specific information from research documents in a systematic format. Once the data points/variables of interest are set up within a data layout, the machine will extract the data from the selected research documents, insert them to the layout and unify the format of any metrics.
The Extraction tool doesn’t just only extract data points, it can also link them together across many research documents into one comprehensive framework. It can also handle different measuring units and convert them into a unified format. Finally, the tool is able to enrich the data with contextual information found in the text.
Automatic extraction is a great solution when:
This tool empowers your research by allowing you to meticulously extract specific information from research documents in a structured format. But the Extract tool goes beyond mere extraction; it has the capability to interlink data points across text and tables from multiple research documents, creating a comprehensive framework. Additionally, the tool adeptly handles diverse measuring units, converting them into a standardized format.
Automatic extraction becomes invaluable in scenarios where specific knowledge is crucial for a scientific discipline, where copying and pasting information is not sufficient due to the need for contextual understanding, or when dealing with a large volume of research documents.
Here's how it works: navigate to your dataset, select the articles of interest, and click on the Extract icon in the right-hand side menu. The Extract tool panel opens, and by clicking the "Generate Extraction" button, we are able to initiate the process. Make sure that there is full-text access to the articles you want to extract. Choose from pre-approved ODL templates. Output Data Layouts are Excel spreadsheets with predefined variables for extraction. Then add a title for your extraction.
You can choose between Table Data Extraction, Patent Metadata Extraction or an example of Advanced Steel Extraction.
Once the generation is complete, you have the flexibility to download individual article extractions (by clicking on the arrow next to each) or the entire set of extractions (via the button next to the title).
The Extract tool is not just a feature; it's a dynamic companion in your research journey, providing precision, efficiency, and a wealth of extracted insights at your fingertips. For more advanced extractions please get in touch with us.
