Leveraging analysis for filtering

After you have uploaded your dataset you have to choose the “Analyze” tool from the right hand side. A side panel will show up with the Analyze tool. If you haven’t used the tool on the particular dataset, you will need to click on the button to “Generate keyword, concept and topic analysis filters”. Then the machine will start the analysis in the background. Please note that as with all other tools, the time it will take can vary from a few seconds (for a handful of document) to hours (for >10,000 documents, unless you apply it to the full Core/PubMed data set which has been cached already for your convenience).

Your notification center will tell you when the analysis is done, and you can find the generated word and topic filters in the Filter tool. Analysis filters’ functionality is similar to context filters - you can add words, concepts and/or topics as inclusion or exclusion criteria for your dataset. A green tag means that the word/topic is used as an inclusion criteria, while a red tag represents an excluded word/topic.

You can also use Boolean logic in your analysis filters. Next to the included concepts you can choose between “AND” and “OR” to specify how you want to filter the results. For exclusions click on your chosen keyword, concept or topic again, in order for it to be highlighted in red.

Please make sure you click “Apply” after every change (even after removing all tags) in order to update the dataset results according to the new filter criteria.
