New features and improvements to the Researcher Workspace

We are constantly improving our tools and now we have a new version of Researcher Workspace available! Read the article below to see what’s new.

As mentioned in our previous posts, we have now integrated our Extract tool as a part of the RW tool suite. The Extract tool gives you the possibility to extract (as the name indicates) specific information from articles in a systematic format. Now you can extract the data by choosing a pre-defined and approved data layout. Currently, you can choose from 2 templates of data layouts, which will further grow and develop in the future.

The Extraction tool doesn’t just only extract data points, it can also link them together across many articles into one comprehensive framework. It can also handle different measuring units and convert them into a unified format. Finally, the tool is able to enrich the data with contextual information found in the text.

Automatic extraction is a great solution when:

  • You need specific knowledge for the scientific discipline
  • You cannot simply copy-paste the information because you need context to be able to extract the data correctly
  • Or there are a lot of articles to be extracted

Other features you should know about

If you have played around with some of the smart filters and would like to save the filtered content as a new dataset, you can now do so by clicking on the “Export Dataset” button in the top right corner. FYI this is the place where all dataset-related actions are located.

To give you more freedom to organize your content as you wish, we implemented an option to transfer or copy documents from one set to another. You can move them around and place them wherever it makes the most sense to you! In cases where you know exactly which articles spark your interest, you can manually select those and simply use the “Copy” or “Move” buttons visible above the articles list.

After you are done analyzing and filtering your dataset and you are left with a relevant reading list you can export your results in csv, BibTeX, or EndNote format. To do so, just click the “Export to…” button in the upper right corner.

We hope that these improvements will make your research process more smooth and streamlined. Keep an eye out on our blog for more updates to the Researcher Workspace coming soon!
